October TBR

I believe that “What is on your TBR?” is the most frequently asked question on Bookstagram, but I almost never know the answer to the question. This month is an exception though! But let’s start at the beginning for the Bookstagram-‘noobs’.

TBR, what?
So, what actually does ‘TBR’ stands for? TBR means ‘To Be Read’. A lot of people make a list of books they REALLY want to read that day, week, month, year. It can be full of books that are on your shelf for years, waiting to be opened for the first time. Books we’ve read a million times can also still be on your TBR-list. It really doesn’t matter. It’s actually just a tracking plan for what you are going to read. So, that’s that!

Why I don’t do TBR
Normally I really don’t like TBR’s. The thing is: my TBR-list is so endless long that I decided not to even make a list. It’s just pointless. I have so many books, and so many books I still want to read. Some people make a list just because of that. They list a few books to read that month, so less unread books on your shelf, happy books!

Tell me more!
Well, for me, it doesn’t work that way. I’m just such a mood reader! It really depends on my mood which book I will pick up. I noticed that, during the summer, I really wanted to read light, soft, romantic books. Fluffy books. Cute books, books with perfect summer locations and perfect relationships. Books that are also called ‘Contemporary’.. or sometimes more Chick-lits (Love & Gelato, Call Me By Your Name and Gossip Girl were favourite this summer!).

What then?
My Autumn-mood has kicked in early this year. In September I started Ash Princess and that brought me all in the mood for fantasy’s again. And yes, I actually planned a small TBR for this month! At YALFest, April this year, I bought the Six of Crows duology and I’ve been looking forward to reading these two books. It’s my first step into the Grisha-world (nope, haven’t read the Grisha-books yet!) so… bloody excited to finally see why everyone is fangirling over ‘bookboyfriend‘ Kaz Brekker.

So far, so good
I absolutely get the hype over these characters. Kaz isΒ absolutely amazing! He is the typical bookboyfriend. Mysterious, handsome, the sharp jawline, the dark but fancy clothing, a hidden past, a forbidden love, the leader… do I need to say more? I’m really excited to read it all!

More TBR’s coming up?
Yes, I might actually have a TBR-list for November already, even though it’s a bit of a cheating list. For over a year, I plan on rereading the Harry Potter series this November. I’m definitely going to do that. How could I not pick a better month then the month leading up to Christmas, being full into Fall-mood Γ‘nd when the new Fantastic Beasts movie, Crimes of Grindewald, is coming into the cinema’s?

🍁 Which books are on your TBR-list, of are you not a great fan of TBR’s as well?
